Drop Anchor

Developed by: MB Spezialabbruch GmbH & Co. KG
Development timeframe: 2018

The Drop Anchor is protected by a utility model. A patent is pending.

1. Purpose

The heavy-duty fastening device (Drop Anchor) is used to fasten loads to building structures where the wall plate must be anchored through; only one-sided access is possible and high pull-out forces must be absorbed The Drop Anchor is similarly suitable for anchoring in building structures with variable strength properties, such as brick structures.

2. Setup

The Drop Anchor has a simple mechanical structure and consists of 5 components, as follows:

a. The anchor element
b. The load handling unit
c. One threaded tie rod
d. Two or more nuts
e. Two or more washers

3. Installation

After the concept and the associated structural analysis have been prepared, holes of the required diameter are drilled at the specified points of the structure. The pre-assembled Drop Anchor is then pushed through the hole until the anchor element can be folded down. The Drop Anchor is then pulled back again on the tie rod until the anchor element rests against the inaccessible side. Now the load suspension unit is tightened against the anchor element using a nut. After shortening the tie rod on the load handling unit side, if necessary, the Drop Anchor is ready to take on loads.
